Talking Social Media in C’ville, Take 2

I had the opportunity for an encore this week, and really enjoyed it.  Last month I was invited to present as the keynote speaker at a seminar for small business owners in Charlottesville, VA.  The workshop was organized by the Richmond office of the U.S. Small Business Administration and the Central Virginia Small Business Development Center.  The response to my presentation was so great that the SBA invited me to come back.  I’m told I now have “groupies” in Charlottesville, but I think that might be a bit of an exaggeration.

This time around, I pared down my presentation to include only social media, social networking, and SEO.  Based on the questions received the first time around, I think these are the topics that interested the group the most.  The majority of the questions I received were about SEO and how to use social networking sites.

I’d like to thank the SBA and SBDC for inviting me back.  I had a wonderful time!

Visiting with Business Incubators

I’m in Staunton, Virginia today to participate in a roundtable discussion during the Virginia Business Incubation Association Fall Conference.  The topic of the roundtable is Marketing on a Shoestring Budget.  My presentation is taking up a large part of the alotted time, mainly because I’m longwinded and I like talking at length on this topic.  My fellow roundtable members voluntarily forfeited their time because they recognized those two things about me :)

I’ll be talking about media relations, social media, SEO PR, and business blogging.  I don’t know if the session will be recorded in any way, but if it is I’ll try to get it posted here.

Edited to add: No recording of this session.  The only thing I could post is my slide presentation, and without my narration, that slide presentation would be largely useless.  With that said, the presentation went very well and I enjoyed meeting everyone!  Thanks to the VBIA for the invite!

Recorded Archive of Recent PRWeb Webinar

A couple of posts ago I mentioned presenting at two PRWeb webinars in consecutive weeks.  One was on October 14 and the other was earlier today.  The topic for each was the same — using PR to promote your small business.  My portion of the presentation in each covered using SEO, SEO PR, and social media strategies such as blogging.  In all, there were approximately 1,600 attendees for the two webinars!  The reviews from attendees on both were very good.  If you missed the first one, I now have a link for you to listen to the audio and see the slides.  I’ll post the link on a future date for the webinar that happened today.

***UPDATED October 29, 2008:

Rather than writing an entirely new post, I thought I’d add the recording from the October 22 webinar here as well.  This one had a similar topic, but my co-presenter this time was the editor-in-chief of Entrepreneur Magazine!

Presenting at Another Free PRWeb Webinar

The PRWeb webinar on October 14 (yesterday, as I’m writing this) went so well, they’ve decided to do another next week.  And, I’m once again invited to be a presenter!  The topic will be the same: Use PR to Grow Your Business.  The last webinar was a record setter for PRWeb, with approximately 1,000 people attending.  The next one looks like it could be even bigger.

I’m honored that the other presenter at next week’s webinar will be Amy C. Cosper, Editor-in-Chief of Entrepreneur Magazine.  I don’t pretend to have as impressive a title, but I think between us we’ll be able to dole out quite a bit of good information and advice.  My portion of the presentation isn’t finished yet, but I expect to be speaking primarily about marketing on the web through SEO, SEO PR, social media and blogging.

The next webinar is on October 22 at 2:00 p.m. ET.  It will likely last about an hour.

To register, just follow this link.  It’s free!
