EndGame PR Partnering on Podcast Offering

I’m late with this announcement almost to the point of negligence, but I wanted to post here about an exciting new partnership for EndGame PR.  At the beginning of this year, online release distribution service Online PR News relaunched their site, with a new design and new lineup of services.  One of the new offerings is podcast production … and that’s where EndGame PR comes in.

When you sign up for a podcast produced through OPN, you’ll be put in contact with me, and we’ll work out a time for you or your designated spokesperson to be interviewed over the phone.  Podcasts from OPN will be approximately five minutes long, and will be fully produced, including a short introduction and intro and outro music.  When completed, the podcasts can be posted as part of an OPN podcast, and will also be included in the Online PR News iTunes “store”.  Clients will also receive a copy of the file that they can post on their own web site.

To listen to a sample OPN podcast, click play on the flash player below.  For more information on this offering, visit the Online PR News podcast page.

Facebook Switch for Startup BizCast

Quick note to anyone who listens to Startup BizCast, a small business advice podcast produced by EndGame PR: If you’re a member of the Startup BizCast Group on Facebook, check your Facebook email!  I’ve decided to convert the group to a “Fan Page”.  Not long ago, Facebook would make the switch for you and your members wouldn’t have to do a thing.  However, they’ve stopped doing that.  So, to make this switch, I’m humbly asking members to go to the NEW Startup BizCast Facebook Page and become a fan.  I’m hoping not to lose anyone in this transition, so I’m going to leave the group open for the time being.  Going forward, however, he group will not be updated.

While you’re at it, if you haven’t joined the EndGame PR Facebook Page, I’d love to have you there as well!

Podcasting Killed the Satellite Radio

Video may have killed the radio star, but podcasting and Internet radio are killing satellite radio.  SIRIUS and XM satellite radio services (now joined to become one company, SIRIUS XM) , were once great destinations for commercial-free niche programming and a nearly endless variety of talk, news, and sports programming.  I was a subscriber of SIRIUS until very recently.  Despite listening to very little other than podcasts when I’m driving, I did enjoy the variety of commercial free music in my office.  I have my own collection of digital music, but it’s nice to not listen to the same tracks over and over again, no matter how many there are in the mix.

The problem for satellite radio, however, is that Internet radio and podcasting are maturing and filling the space that satellite radio once owned. Not only is there similar content available out there, the vast majority of Internet radio sites and podcasts are free.  SIRIUS is trying to combat this with an iPhone app that will allow subscribers access to the company’s Internet audio on their iPhones.  This is a great idea, but it’s too little too late.

Podcasting Finally Going Mainstream

Despite being a great way to deliver your message, be it about the latest music or great small business advice, podcasting has not caught on as quickly as many predicted a couple of years ago.  That appears to finally be changing, according to a new report by eMarketer that I found at Podcasting News.  They put the podcast listening audience at about nine percent of Internet users right now and they predict it will hit 17% in the next five years.  It also had some interesting findings about the higher likelihood that podcast listeners will shop online.  This part is great news, because retailers may finally realize that podcasts are a great place to advertise.

Another Reason to Own Your Hosting

Many Podango users are still chasing their tails, trying to figure out what to do to get their shows back up and running.  Podango is one of a number of services hosts podcasting files for users and makes it easier to get that necessary RSS feed up and running.  Many non-technofile podcasters are using services like this to make the task simpler for them.  The problem, however, comes when that service goes out of business or takes an extended holiday.
