Entertain, and They Will View

Speaking of web videos (and I was, in the last post), if you need proof that YouTube videos can draw an audience, look no further than this video. My wife showed it to me last night. It’s a very entertaining entrance by a wedding party, and as of the time I’m typing this blog post, it’s been viewed nearly 13 million times. That’s more of an audience than some cable TV shows! Further proof that if a web video is entertaining, people fill find it.

Video: Twouble with Twitters

If we stop Tweeting, do we cease to exist? Who are we really talking to when we’re Tweeting? Is the Fail Whale carnivorous? All these questions and more are answered in this hysterical video…

Sheltering Arms Launches Blog

I had the pleasure recently of helping Sheltering Arms, Central Virginia’s premier physical rehabilitation healthcare provider, launch their first blog.  Not only did I help with the announcement, I actually built the blog!

sablog-screenshotThe goal with this project was to create a WordPress blog that matched the look and feel of their existing website as much as possible.  This sounds easy, but it usually isn’t.  A small screen shot of the blog is to the left.  Check out the actual Sheltering Arms Blog here.

Be sure to check back and/or subscribe, as we’ll be posting news about advancements in physical rehabilitation, success stories from Sheltering Arms, and news about the 120-year-old organization itself.

This is just the latest move in the social media strategy that EndGame PR has helped create for Sheltering Arms.  We’ve already launched a Facebook page that is nearing the 100 “fan” mark.  Future tactics may include a podcast series and a presence on Twitter.  Stay tuned!

A Busy July for Speaking Opportunities

July is going to be a lot of fun, and despite my tendency toward sarcasm … I really mean that!  I’ve got a busy month coming up, with a number of speaking opportunities.  I’ve run down the list below, and will update it if anything else comes up.  It’s a full slate, particularly for what is supposed to be a slow summer month!

  • July 14: I’ll conduct a private workshop on using Facebook and Twitter at a local Realty firm
  • July 22: I’ll teach two classes on this day for the Richmond Association of REALTORS®. At 10am, I’ll teach Facebook for beginners.  At 1pm, I’ll repeat last month’s class on Facebook and Twitter for REALTORS®.  More information will be posted in the coming days at the RAR education site.
  • July 24: I’ll be manning a discussion table at the Strategic Leadership and Social Media for Social Good Conference at the University of Richmond’s Jepson School of Business.  The table topic will be podcasts and web videos.  The conference is for decision-makers in nonprofit and government organizations.  Registration information is available here.

Audio from July’s New Media Seminars

I’ve got a busy July coming up for speaking opportunities and even teaching.  I plan to cover that in a separate post, so that’s not important right now :)  In this post, I wanted to share some audio from my most recent presentation.

I spoke this week at the July edition of the monthly New Media Seminars, organized by Advertising and New Media firm Madison + Main.  I recorded my portion of the half-day workshop, and included it in the latest episode of my small business advice podcast, Startup BizCast.  My topic was “How Social Media Changed Everything in PR”.

You can listen in the player below, or find out how to subscribe via iTunes, RSS, or other podcast directories by visiting the Startup BizCast blog.
