The Future of TV is Coming

Tonight I sat in my living room and watched a stream of The Daily Show on the big screen TV in my living room.  It would be unremarkable except that the video being displayed on my TV was actually coming from a website called Hulu.  I found a way to easily hook up my laptop into my LCD TV, and basically used the TV as a monitor for the computer.  All I needed was a cable like this one, and to press a button to switch my laptop to an external monitor.  That was pretty much it.  I even sat and watched a few of the YouTube videos I’ve produced for clients.

Client Video: FOX 35 Cat Colony Overview

I just posted a client video on YouTube and on the client’s blog. This was a “let’s get this done right now” type of project, so I shot and edited the entire video myself rather than hire a pro videographer. The video is for Save Our Shelters, a Richmond, VA-based animal rights group and humane society. They’ve been heavily involved in the issue of a feral cat colony behind local TV station WRLH (FOX 35). We’ve been using social media and media relations tactics to try to get the word out about this. I’ll let the video explain the rest. If you want to visit the blog I created for the organization, click here.

New Animal Rights Blog

Quick note to point everyone in the direction of a new blog I launched for a client this week.  It was put together quickly, so it’s not my prettiest effort.  I would have rather had the blog on the client’s web server, but given the urgency that wasn’t possible, so I used the great WordPress.com site.

The client is Save Our Shelters, a Richmond, VA-based animal rights organization.  They’re in the middle of a rescue effort involving a feral cat colony that’s been living behind a local television station for a number of years.  The station manager’s decisions are a textbook example of what NOT to do in public relations.  You can read about the story here.

Visit the Save Our Shelters Blog for regular updates from the scene of the Trap, Neuter and Return operation at WRLH.  We’ve had a great response to the blog, even though it’s only been operating for a few days.  I’m also in the middle of a media relations project to push SOS’s part in the rescue effort.  One radio interview is already posted at the blog, and another will be posted later today.
