Podcasting Audience Growing … and Growing
Feb 7th, 2008 by Steve
According to eMarketer, the audience for podcasting will double in the next two years. They peg the total podcast audience (those who have listened to at least one show) at 18.5 million right now. They claim 6.5 million are active podcast listeners (those who listen to at least one show per week).
One has to figure that if the audience does continue to grow exponentially, the number of shows will continue to grow. And, the number of businesses that either start their own podcasts or sponsor existing ones will grow. That’s when some real money will begin to flow through the podcast world.

By the way, this study is being released at pretty much the same time as corporate blogging guru (gurette?) Debbie Weil is proclaiming 2008 the Year of Corporate Blogging. Coincidentally, I interviewed her on this week’s Startup BizCast. We talked about blogging for business and a few other semi-related social media topics. You can check out the podcast episode here or by using the handy-dandy flash player below.
Oh, and I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention that if you would like help using podcasting to benefit your business, you should visit EndGame PR Podcast Production, a service of EndGame Public Relations, LLC.
