Still Another Writer’s Strike

So, TV is getting back to normal and your favorite shows will hopefully come back on the air. But, a storm is brewing. It’s another writer’s strike! Aaaaaah!

Men Want it Quick, While Women Take Their Time

This post could go south in a big way very quickly, so let me get to the point…

Podcasting News has news today of a new report from Nielsen on Internet video habits. The report reveals significant gender differences in Internet video viewing. Apparently, men like it short and sweet (think YouTube), while women like to take their time and enjoy longer shows (like what’s on TV network sites). This is significant because it could affect how businesses produce content, and how websites create link bait. If they are targeting men, they should create short viral style videos. Why Your Company Should Start a Corporate Blog

If you’re in a position to influence the decision makers in your company, or (even better) if YOU are a decision maker in your company … run, don’t walk, to start a corporate blog. I’ve blathered on about this topic over and over on this blog, but if you don’t read anything else … read this:

Brodeur Journalists Survey Identifies Blogs’ Influence on Traditional News Coverage

Podcasting Audience Growing … and Growing

According to eMarketer, the audience for podcasting will double in the next two years. They peg the total podcast audience (those who have listened to at least one show) at 18.5 million right now. They claim 6.5 million are active podcast listeners (those who listen to at least one show per week).

One has to figure that if the audience does continue to grow exponentially, the number of shows will continue to grow. And, the number of businesses that either start their own podcasts or sponsor existing ones will grow. That’s when some real money will begin to flow through the podcast world.

By the way, this study is being released at pretty much the same time as corporate blogging guru (gurette?) Debbie Weil is proclaiming 2008 the Year of Corporate Blogging. Coincidentally, I interviewed her on this week’s Startup BizCast. We talked about blogging for business and a few other semi-related social media topics. You can check out the podcast episode here or by using the handy-dandy flash player below.

Oh, and I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention that if you would like help using podcasting to benefit your business, you should visit EndGame PR Podcast Production, a service of EndGame Public Relations, LLC.
