Happy Birthday to EndGame Public Relations

EndGame Public Relations birthday cakeYou say it’s your birthday?! It’s our birthday too, yeah!

(Corny? Yes. Do I care? No.)

On January 29th of 2006, EndGame Public Relations burst into existence. How do I know that was the date? Well, it’s hard to pinpoint when you actually start a business like this. With a brick-and-mortar retailer, you point to the grand opening of a first store. With something like a PR firm or agency, it’s something a bit more nebulous. I decided to choose the day I bought the domain “EndGamePR.com“. I figure it’s as good of a marker as anything else.

Here are a few milestones from the first year:

Our very first client was NetBaldwin (now named NetSearch Direct). I’d met the company’s president, Laurie Baldwin, at a networking event in the summer of 2005. I called her in February of 2006, and it turned out she needed some PR help. I still work with them! If you’re interested in Search Engine Optimization and Search Engine Marketing, check into their business.

Our largest client of the year was Shamin Hotels. It’s a hotel management firm based in Chester, Virginia. At last count Shamin had 24 properties in Virginia, Maryland, and North Carolina. I was hired in the summer of 2006 to help the company announce groundbreakings for six new hotels in the Richmond area. The groundbreakings were supposed to happen in the fall and winter of 2006. None of the groundbreakings have happened so far as I know, but I did some good work for them on projects such as the Marine Comfort Quilts event.

Our best work, at least as far as the results generated, has been for Family Lifeline. Since they became an EndGame PR client in September of 2006, I’ve set up 10 news stories or interviews for them on a variety of different topics. Now, I’ve worked on huge campaigns where 10 stories doesn’t sound like a big deal. But, for a local not-for-profit, it’s a big deal. There’s a rundown of that work in the “results” section of the EndGamePR.com website.

Our newest client is … well, you’ll have to wait a day or two, but there’s likely an announcement coming!

I wrote a news release about the big birthday. It’s posted on the EndGame PR website here.

I’ve enjoyed this past year, and I’m looking forward to a successful 2007. If you have PR needs, I hope to hear from YOU!

Cheers!

What in the PR have I been doing?

I haven’t blogged since November. It’s now January, in case you hadn’t noticed. So, what have I been doing? Well, I’m glad I asked. First off, the holidays derailed my average of one or more post per month. Second, I’ve been very busy lately with new business efforts. Since Thanksgiving, I’ve written about a half dozen proposals for new business. Most of those potential clients would start would after the first of the year, so I expect to be hearing back soon. Not to be overconfident (and I hope I’m not jinxing anything) but I expect I’ll get somewhere around half of them. I still have the capacity for more work even if I DO land the business I expect to land. So, if you’re a business owner or manager … give me a call. We’ll talk about how public relations and media relations can help!

The other thing I’ve been doing is working on Search Engine Optimization for the main EndGame Public Relations website. None of the changes I made are obvious to the casual reviewer, but I received some advice on how to improve my rankings on Google. Apparently I was doing a few things slightly wrong that needed to be fixed. Who knew? Not me!

Anyhow, I wish you a belated Happy Holidays and I hope you have a wonderful 2007!
